We love all the Hardy reels, and this is a great one for the classic look, feel, and sound combined with a drag, as it’s much easier to land a hot 15+ pound steelhead when you have a drag on your reel! The Bougle is probably my favorite overall and on the Rogue where we don’t have many 15+ pounders, but I like the Cascapedia when I’m chasing bigger steelhead on the coast/Umpqua/Deschutes.

I like the #8/9 Model for #6 and #7 weight spey rods, although I might like the #10/11 better on a 7 weight longer than 13 feet. Definitely get the #10/11 for 8+ weight spey rods. Call us at 541.973.2988 or email flyfish@roguevalleyanglers.com with any questions, as we’ll be happy to help you decide which one works best for your specific spey rod.
