When deciding between Spey (> 12 feet) and Switch (< 12 feet) rods you basically always want the Spey if you are swinging flies, as the power of the spey cast comes from the height of the D-Loop. This means a longer rod will have much more power which will allow you to fish more water and catch more fish!

The 5123 CLAYMORE Spey rod was designed to be a crossover between large trout and an ultra-light steelhead rod. This rod will handle larger trout flies in the wind and is also perfect for skating dries for smaller steelhead. Recommended Skagit Grains: 350-400 Scandi Grains: 270-330. Great rod for summer steelhead on a scandi setup for the Rogue and especially the Klamath
