Just like with the Alec Jackson spey hooks we use the size #5 the most as they are the strongest. Nice long shank so you still get a good size profile on the #5. My friends up in BC say the size 3 can break on really big fish using 15# Maxima. Down here on the Rogue that’s not an issue as we don’t have 20+ pound summer runs so we don’t use anything heavier then 10# Maxima.
